Virtual Creative Development and Discovery

Sundays 6:30pm - 7:30pm EST

Join us online for this 10 week (plus livestreamed performance) theatre class for neurodivergent performers and performers with disabilities as we look at and explore the many different tools of theatre (movement, music, spoken and non-spoken word, etc) and how we can use them to communicate, create and tell our stories.

We welcome performers of all abilities, of all life experiences, literacy levels and verbal as well as non-verbal communicators.

Virtual Musical Theatre Motivation

(Sundays 2pm - 3pm EST) In Partnership with the Down Syndrome Association of York Region

Thatz Showbiz Theatre Project believes in theatre as Education, Empowerment and Change and offers a number of Classes for all ages and stages. We have been a leader in the industry for nearly a decade. Accessible theatre programs are our top priority and we are excited to offer online Musical Theatre Motivation, a one of a kind musical theatre experience enriching the lives of the young artists with disabilities by giving students of all abilities a creative voice and chance to be heard.

10 session plus a final livestreamed performance from home by our students! Founded and taught by professional singer and performer Sarah Magni who additionally has years of experience in drama therapy, respite care, and arts education, she brings a unique and fascinating program to the community which enhances life skills, builds confidence and empowers students to release their creative potential.

Virtual Queer Lore

Tuesdays 5:00pm - 7:30pm EST

For ages 13 – 17

In partnership with professional Theatre Collective Under the Bus Productions we bring you our 8 week online drama club for LGBTQIA2S+ youth lead by LGBTQ+ professional theatre creators.  In this program we’re going to be unearthing the canon of Queer Canadian plays and beyond.  We’ll be reading, exploring, doing scene analysis and working on acting technique (including character work, scene work, voice work, monologue work and more) and (BONUS!) working on camerawork in the age of virtual theatre and digital performance.  Special guest artists and playwrights will be visiting the class to share their expertise and “drop some knowledge!”

Theatre at School and in Day Programs.

Thatz Showbiz works with all locations of the Meta Centre day program and Creating Alternatives day program to provide professional drama programs for their clients and create full scale live productions that showcase the talents of participants of all abilities. Each performance is carefully curated and designed for the performers involved.  We also provide in school workshops.  We now have an adapted virtual option for schools and day programs.
